What kind of RAM do I need... I'll go to mr cheap PC chinese man get some tomorrow?

This it;
DDR 2 – PC4200 (DDR533) Memory -
512M / 1G Samsung DDR2 “HOT” $65 / $125
Nice racist remark there

RAM is readily available, The one you listed is not the right RAM.

Have a look here for compatibility.

Happens every time, eh... 680x0 -> PPC I guess was the biggest change... though OSX too... lot of people expecting big changes only to find out they're software runs no faster or even slower on the new "super fast" machine... Oh well.

Very slow when running PS, Illus, indesign with word an entourage open. Spinning Ball!!!!
Funny that. Latest PS is set by default to use 75% of available RAM. I'd be getting 2Gb for the machine if you're going to run all those Adobe apps at the same time.

Rosetta needs a lot of ram. Your new computer has less ram switching between apps will be slower. But even with rosetta photoshop should be much faster than a 400mhz G3. It's an upgrade on that that's more future proof than a G5. Too bad that you didn't really know much about what you were buying though.

number one, you shouldn't be running any microsoft software :P

i just upgraded to an imac G5 before apple 'made the switch' in-fact i bought my imac 4 days before apple announced that they were moving to intel....i was a little miffed at first, but i aint ready to jump the PPC ship yet, i might in a few years, but unless apple does something like releasing 10.5 only on intel macs, i won't be buying a new mac.

back to the subject, 512 isn't even enough RAM to run those app's on a PPC natively....GET MORE RAM ! but make sure it's the right type, you don't want to do anything stupid.

personally i just upped my RAM to 1.5gb's i recomed buying corsair ram, go to corsairs web site to find out the exact ram you need.
