 Powerbook BT Problem - Help!

Hey Guys,

I opened up my powerbook yesterday to find that the bluetooth symbol
at the top of my screen had changed. When I try using the bluetooth setup
assistant it's saying I have no bluetooth hardware installed (but I do!)

It would seem that perhaps the BT module has become unseated or
just perhaps died, but it is inside the laptop and not accessible
from the outside so I can't really check.

Is there anything I can do other than take the PB in to Apple?

Cheers,

This happened to me once not long after i got my new PB, the Bluetooth icon just went inactive.

Restarted the machine and it was back to normal, and has been ever since.....

Remember to download the Bluetooth firmware updates before you run them and be using the power not battery. There are two updates in the last 4 or 5 months you may need both.

And I agree a restart usually sorts these things out. As the BT is built in I can't see how it would come unseated unless it was dropped/knocked etc. Use the system profiler to see if it appears on the USB bus.

Thanks for input guys.

I checked system profiler and the BT module was not showing.

The problem has fixed itself now. All I needed to do was actually
shut down and re-boot. I had been just restarting my PB without
completely turning off in between but that didn't have any effect.

Strange one, glad I wasn't the only one that happened too. Thanks again
guys....
