i'm sick and tired of the sound that my imac G5 rev A makes.
its the lower fan.
can you get a lower fan from the Rev B and put it into the Rev A? Is it quiet?
can you buy a spare lower fan for the Rev A?
what are some other ways you quiet it down.
the only speed my lower fan is quiet is at 1500rpm, as soon as it hits 1800+ it gets annoying!

i have them on reduced. its not that they are constantly spinning, its just that the sound it makes is annoying.
i think its the blade itself in the Rev A machines, so what i was wondering is can you put a Rev B fan in a Rev A since they are the same except the angle of the blade? also where to get them.

wasnt there a problem with the REV A iMac's having a squeeling sound comming from the PSU? i think there is a case about it, and they are replaced no matter how old it is.. please correct me if im wrong.

i have extended warranity. can i call for onsite repair? I hate driving to my nearest apple store (which isn't near at all), and wasting my time, not to mention it takes a day just to have it checked and ages to get anything fixed.
so can apple do a onsite check up and repair? on the internet there are so many post about people replacing their parts themselves as apple sends them the parts. I would prefer doing it myself or having it fixed on the day on site since my computer is still operational. if i dropped it off at a apple store, its going to take weeks to get it fixed.

The reason the fans spin up is because of too much heat trapped inside the iMac. More heat requires more movement of air, hence fans get cranking, and hence the whine. Besides the fan mod you might also consider the fact that the PSU is placed quite far down the chimney, and can get thermonuclear. So I suppose any mod you do should start from there.
