Seems I put this in the wrong place, was trying to find File.com.apple.mail.plist to delete , couldn't find it , may be called something else, anyway I have fixed the problem by continually rebuilding the mailboxes.

Well I have fixed half of the problem, the messages have gone, when sending mail its very slow. Rebuilt etc, have repaired permissions from SL disk, switched the modem on and off, restarted, shutdown, I cannot fix it.
I feel sure its the plist file however I think it has been renamed as I cannot find it to delete it. Really would appreciate some help

Fixed. It was the plist, just deleted and re-entered all the info under preferences and away it went.

I have a separate problem. Did the upgrade from Leopard about an hour ago - but now can't open Mail.app, it unexpectedly quits each time. This is the relevant bit from the new Console.app:

I had the same problem after installing Snow Leopard. Mail kept quitting after a few seconds.
The problem for me was solved when I removed the RSS feeds folder (User/library/mail/rss). Next step is now to find out wether it is all feeds or just one in particular that causes the trouble |

On a side note, anyone know what's happening with the New Mail sound? I don't get it at all.
P.S. I've obviously set it to chime on new mail

Users/lib/pref
I am still having the odd hickup with Mail, I advise don't delete the .plist until you create another, drag it to the desktop and if are having trouble you can put it back. Another thing to try is (copy all the info first on paper) is go into Mail Pref and delete your user name etc, re enter it and save, that usually fixes Password problems. I keep getting Apple RSS messages, I delete them and back they come, I just deleted the RSS box in the end. Hope this is of assistance.

I have the following problems:
1. Deleted mail keeps re-appearing: The mail that keeps reappearing is Apple Hot News 1. I delete from the Inbox 2. Delete Trash 3. Rebuild all M'boxes 2. My notes now also appear in my inbox. Deleting the notes in the inbox also deletes them form the notes side-panel. Problem 1 now fixed by continually rebuilding the mailboxes (took about a dozen rebuilds). Problem 2 is really annoying - anyone else having this issue??? Fixed problem 2: Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts>Mailbox Behaviours>Notes you can untick the box for "Show notes in Inbox". Your notes will then appear only under the Reminders heading below all your Mailbox folders, where they belong. Make sure you do this for every mailbox and make sure you save this option. My notes are now where they belong in the notes section only. Last edited by GeoffP; 4th September 2009 at 08:57 AM. |

Bugger - Problem 1 is back again.
I noticed that if I leave the deleted Apple News emails in the trash they do not re-appear in the inbox, HOWEVER... As soon as I delete them from the trash, when I restart Mail they are back in the inbox again!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone else confirm this please. Thanks. |

NOTE: These fixes are for Leopard 10.5.8 and do not know if SL10.6 uses the same folder locations.

I still only see placeholder icons (blue square with question mark) instead of the jpgs in some email sent to me.
Is frustrating... You can see them via quicklook, or save them, but you can't forward the email without saving them and then starting a new email.
