Default Apple adopting Windows-style resize window edges

Playing with Logic 9, and the Lily Allen 'The Fear' track, and I accidentally enlarged the video clip window by click dragging on it's upper edge. Sure enough, I can resize by dragging the sides too.

Then I checked the main application window, and it's true: You can click and drag from the top, bottom, or sides of any Logic window to resize, ie you don't have to go to the bottom right hand corner! It doesn't show a resize icon until you click and hold (you'd never notice just by hovering, unlike in Windows)

Interesting if this will go throughout the OS with Snow Leopard... or just remain in Pro Apps?

Hopefully it doesn't make it any further than that.

it'd bloody better appear on a system-wide basis, being restricted to one corner for resizing has been one of the longest-standing gripes about the Mac GUI. Long overdue, I reckon.

Anyone with a 10.6 dev install willing to test this for us and report back?

I'm with Brains... I hope it appears in 10.6!

Just because redmond thought of it first doesn't mean it's automatically a bad thing, after all even a broken clock (ok an analogue one!) is right twice a day

Right Zoom doesn't always work because it's a hack, and when it does it actually puts a noticable load on the CPU. I've also read it leaks memory.

Fingers crossed this is coming in Snow Leopard. It does get a bit annoying dragging windows up to the top left corner just to resize them and make them bigger.

I have some bad news for those in favour of it: Logic 8 has it as well. I think it's been there for a while, maybe even from the EMagic days. Final Cut Pro has had it a while too, I believe (don't have it here to check).

Sorry!

Also worth noting: most windows don't have a left or right hand bezel in Leopard, so there's nothing to grab.
