Yeh, generating a 60+ page photo book PDF with a Gig of photos being brought down to 50MB.

As for delivery - I got an email lunchtime yesterday - shipped 28th, delivered 29th.

Maybe it depends when you put your order in. I think I ordered on 11th.
(Man, I've been waiting that long to finish this book off... all for a photo hard cover... how the time flies.) Late-ish Christmas present. how long 'till Easter?

This is good news !

Is anyone having problems publishing iWeb Websites via FTP? I do a test connection and that seems to be fine but when I go and upload the file it states "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider." Any ideas on how to fix the problem? I don't know about you guys but that was one of the main reasons I wanted to buy iLife for but it isn't working!

Woh..

Time Machine backup post ilife 09 and upgrade from 10.5.4 to 10.5.6 is 81GB!!

It must have rewritten the iphoto and imovie library content such that it needs to be all backed up again (80Gb is about the size of my iphoto and imovie vids). Seems like a waste to me..

Anyone else found this?

Yep

Mine is 15GB and I freaked out - 80GB!!!

I have been playing with Faces today and it seems to work reasonably well for the most part.
One thing I would like to see though, is the ability to use a keyboard command to delete an "unknown face"

I can use the Tab key to navigate between multiple faces in one photo and to edit the name, I just need to hit the enter key, but there is no key command (not that I have found anyway) to just delete one that I don't want (think Kids group school photos)

Picked up a copy today at the Apple store Chaddy [They have tons in stock]. I'm really enjoying playing around with all the new features.. i spent about an hour today adding locations to all my events [it's like artwork.. kinda addictive] at the moment i'm just waiting for iPhoto to finish looking though my photos for faces. [It's taking about 3 1/2 hours.]

Anyway it's all lots of fun. That said if you don't use iPhoto/Garage band/iMovie i don't see a lot of reason to rush to upgrade.. that's just me.

Is there is simple way to batch confirm a name in faces? however getting it to uncheck the one that 'are not' this person at the same time.

Currently I'm manually going through and clicking each one separately confirming or 'not'.. lots to do..

I'm quite impressed it seems to have a high hit rate of getting it right. And I'm surprised how much I'm actually enjoying this feature..

I think you can drag through the photos to batch confirm, not sure because I am still waiting. My shipping notification came through so hopefully tomorrow.

Mine is getting delivered tomorrow but it is getting delivered by Australia Post. It says that on the order status page and does not have a tacking number, so it must be by normal post. Don't Apple usually use TNT?

i did read the article, and i have updated to the latest quicktime and no problems whatsoever, I cant explain it, but my mac runs just as well as it did prior to the DFU fix. I did the quicktime update before I did the automator DFU fix, maybe that has something to do with it.

Default Slight bugs, funny and not so funny

I got iLife yesterday and installed last night. Took hours to go through the photos, but I only have a MBAir and I have shitloads of photos.

Anyway this morning a couple of bugs.

First one is funny. It identified a woman, a couple of random guys in Spain I think, an old man, and an ancient Mesopotamian(ancient Iran/Iraq) statue as being possible matches for me.

The second problem is more serious. iPhoto thinks I am not connected to the internet. I am using a 3 HSDP connection. Any ideas?

Default IPhoto showing no internet connection

I just searched the apple user forum and this seems to be a common problem if you use a USB modem, such as the 3g HSDPA Huawei type supplied by 3Mobile.

The problem is the number of pointless defects you have to put into hardware to be able to play the damn things.

Pirate your HD content, it's the same quality and isn't defective.

The following helps illustrate the problem, though not specifically for Blu-Ray:

All that said, I'm sure it'll come eventually. Better hope you have equally defective external monitors and stereo equipment by the time it does.

... or just pirate the damn stuff until the media companies wake up. The only way you'll be affected by their idiocy is if you actually give them money; only paying customers are affected.
