Default Mac OS 7.6 Wanted

Hi Folks,

I am presently resurrecting a Classic II which is currently zombie-like (checkerboard pattern on screen) due to the well known leaky capacitors, I'm cleaning the board and replacing the caps. BUT, I've never been able to find Mac OS 7.6 and would love this as 7.6.1 is the latest supported OS for these.

Any pointers? Have searched without much luck.

Located in adelaide BTW.

I know you can download the different image thingies for System 7 and all the old OSs from Apple, but I don't know how you'd put in on your Classic...

Edit: You can download System 7 here (7.5.3) and Updates to 7.6.1 here

oooo!! A classic! I hope you fix it, and keep it for many years to come.. Then in 20 year sell it on Ebay for $30,000... I'm almost certain somebody of my generation would buy it..

For the 7.6.1 update you'll need 7.6 already installed, so you'll need disks for it

7.5.3 is available in full and then the update to 7.5.5 can be applied to that though!

Performa disks may or may not work on a Classic.

Thanks for the help folks. I might check out that eBay listing. And yes, 7.6.1 update is free download from Apple, 7.6 itself isn't, unlike 7.5.x which is why I've never used 7.6 before.

7.6 is not going to run very well on a Classic II, you know? Still, if you really want to run it then it's a good OS.

You need at least 16MB of RAM for 7.6, otherwise you will need to turn on virtual memory - on a Classic II with max 10MB, that's not nice

Go for 7.1
