Unhappy Disk Utility is Corrupted

Hi,

Not sure when it happened, but my version of Disk Utility is now corrupted. More often than not it doesn't see any of the mounted hard drives, and when it does the tool bar and related actions don't even appear.
It's a nifty little tool, I miss it. I've tried to find it on Apple's site, but to no avail! And my problem seems to be unique!
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forums!

Have a look at this, it may help solve the problem.

Thanks for the welcome and advice. Of the possibilities offered I'm inclined to try and solve my problem with the Combo Update 10.5.3, but I'm wary of that, I'm running 10.5.6, so effectively I'd be downgrading, which I don't think I can do anyway. Is that right?
Otherwise, I'll try the others in turn.

Hi, it's me again!
One suggestion was to download Pacifist - which I did -, this allowed me to extract Disk Utility off the Leopard DVD, but unfortunately, since I've updated to 10.5.6, the Leopard version (10.5) is no longer supported. So each of the fixes suggested in the Apple Discussions article recommended failed for me.
Any other ideas? I guess I'll drop into a Mac retailer and ask if I can download the latest version off one of their in-store iMacs.

Talking Update on Disk Utility

How sad, replying to my own posts! Really, I'm not lonely or anything like that, truly.... Anyway, I never did solve the Disk Utility problem, but soon after my hard drive died, I replaced it and reinstalled Leopard, and now it's all good: Disk Utility has returned. Hurray! By the way, all manner of buggy things have been solved with the departure of my hard drive, I guess I really needed, after almost 3 years, to clean the drive. I'll do that this time, well before I begin to experience the problems that so frustrated me last time.
Anyway, have to run, I'm reading the mega review of Snow Leopard over at Ars Technica, it's a beauty, check it out if you can.
