Default Help: Prob installing Office 2008 SP1 12.1.0

Hi all,

I am installing Office 2008 on my MP, it's a fresh installation as the machine is new. Office installed fine, but then the Autoupdate app suggested I needed to install SP1 version 12.1.0.

The weird thing is it downloads ok (appears to anyway) once the dialogue box saying it's downloading verion 12.1.0 SP1 disappears, it just returns to the autoupdater and nothing happens.

My machine is literally straight out of the box - with 10.5.5, 500gb HDD, 2 x 2.8 quad core Xeon processors, 2gb RAM etc.

Can anyone help? Do I have to reinstall Office again from scratch? All the Office apps run fine, but the Autoupdater suggests that I still need to install SP1. Each time I attempt the install, it downloads 180mb).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Glen

Go to Mactopia and download updates from there. Currently the latest update is 12.1.5.

Thanks - downloaded the update from mactopia rather than via autoupdater, and this fixed the issue.

Though I would like to know why it happened. Is this something other Office users have experienced? It's a bit rough when you've just got a brand new machine and you get stuf like that!

thanks,
Glen

Just like Software Downloads ~ better to download from the web site rather that Software or Auto Updates.
