I was referring to the library sharing feature within iTunes. It works well for me.
Set it up in the "Sharing" tab of the preferences in iTunes, both computers need to have iTunes running, and it should appear in your sidebar in the other computer's iTunes. Then you can just play the songs as if they were on your local computer. It works both ways between the Mac<-->PC. Click for full size - Uploaded with plasq's Skitch

There are probably other ways to do it, such as storing your music in a shared folder, and each user having an iTunes library (database) that looks at that shared folder. But then you would each have to periodically scan for new music to add to the library database. Or you could buy a NAS that has a media server built in to it.
