Default Mail and Exchange access

Hi everyone
My workplace has now installed Microsoft Exchange 2007 and we have Outlook Web Access enabled. I have had a go at trying to set up Mail to access my Exchange account at work but have been unsuccessful.

It asks for a incoming and outgoing mail server and I have put in the address to the web mail account and put in the Outlook Web Access https address, but it doesn't seem to work.

Can anyone shed light on this?

Glen

Outlook web access is a browser client - you read your mail file on the server using a browser like Safari, over TCP port 80 or 443 (https).

Apple Mail is a POP/SMTP/IMAP client. You download your mail to your computer, usually using ports 110 and 25.

They are not the same, and a URL for OWA will not work for POP access.

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think the Exchange server needs to have IMAP enabled for you to be able to connect with Apple Mail. And you would also need to specify IMAP as the account type in Mail, instead of POP.
Your Exchange admin should be able to tell you if it is enabled, and also the server name (something like mail.yourcompany.com.au).

Exchange support is a bone of contention for a vocal minority on MTAU. See this thread.
