Default iPhoto '08... uggghhhhh!

Just trying out iPhoto '08, and what's with these stupid Events? I'm having a hell of a time trying to sort my photos into different events... anyone know how to do this? There seems to be no function to allow me to shift photos from one event into another! I have 7.0.1 - maybe there's a problem with the install?

to shift photos from one event to another dont you just drag and drop? Highlight the photos you want from an event, select split, which will put them in a new event, then in events view drag that "new" event over the event you want to add the photos to and when the + sign appears release. The photos are now in the new event.

*edit* removed unnecessary comment.

you dont even have to do that, just put your library in photos view and drag and drop between events!

i am really happy with iPhoto now, it has allowed me to completely sort & arrange my photos in a way i had never been able to achieve before. it is truly a significant step forward for mine.

Well for me, I am unable to change the title of the Events. Anyone else seen this problem?

Guys, if you have the above mentioned problem (unable to re-name events), do a spotlight search for "HelveticaNeue.dfont"

Then double click it, and click "Install Font" - that should fix the problem. Did for me.

Well events are all fine and dandy but there is something that needs a total overhaul.......KEYWORDS.

Apple has actually succeeded in making a function that takes ten times longer to get somting done than it really should.

I just want to be able to click on a photo and TYPE keywords. Not this checkbox/drag and drop shit.

The whole of iLife '08 works perfectly for me and I'm loving iPhoto '08. I love the idea of events.

If one has the keywords showing underneath a photo in thumbnail view, they can just click where the keywords show up, type what they want for a keyword, iPhoto will try and auto complete the keywords like mail does email addresses, if a keyword hasn't been created yet, iPhoto will just apply it.

Events behaves like how I used to use film rolls -- when in the more recent version we were allowed to move photos from one roll to the next. .

How do I 'drag and drop between events' please Galumay?
That is, in photo view, how do I differentiate between events?

in photo view it still shows the event they are in at the beginning of each event, i will grab a screenie and show you.

edit - click on "view" + "event titles" - that will show them.

Is iPhoto '08 quicker then '06? I've always found '06 a little sluggish handling the large photos from my DSLR, so if '08 fixes that I'll be ordering it tomorrow.

Is there a way to bulk add keywords to multiple photos at once?

Other than that, it's working out pretty well.

This from iPhoto help:

Quote:
To assign keywords or checkmarks:

Select the photo or photos you want to add a keyword or checkmark to.

Choose Window > Show Keywords.

Click the checkmark or one or more keywords you want assigned to the photo.

To deselect a keyword or a checkmark, just click it again.

You can also add keywords to a photo by choosing View > Keywords, and then selecting the photo and typing a keyword into the keywords field just below it. Move your pointer over the photo to show “Add keyword” in the empty field.

To stop viewing the keywords, choose View > Keywords again.

Does anybody ever bother reading the help files before posting? The help files really are, well...helpful. You can even add your own keyboard shortcuts to keywords...

When you play around with it you find out that the there is a lot you can do with keywords and easily.
