Default 202008 2.8 Ghz Mac Pro Octocore on Refurb Site

See:
Mac Pro - Apple Store (Australia)

I just bought a new version of the same machine yesterday (their last one). Model was discounted to about $200 more than the refurb.

It's gone! Hope you got it. I missed the last one while I was trying to make my mind up over whether to buy one of the new ones or not.

I wanted to buy one today... was stupid not to buy it really. I never used to see MacPros on the refurb site, so i'm guessing it's not something we will get used to. If i ever see them again i will buy, if not i guess i'll have to source one out from fleabay...

I mentioned it in another recent thread, but I picked up a refurb Mac Pro a few days back. Was delivered within 24 hours of order.

I'd say go for it while they are there, you get such a great deal.

I bought the Octo Core 2.8Ghz Mac Pro in impeccable condition and happily received as a pre installed bonus:

NVidia 8800 GT 512Mb Video Card
500Gb 7200rpm HD
Bluetooth Keyboard
Bluetooth Mouse

Bought an extra 8Gb Ram and a further 2 x 1Tb Hard drives and installed today. Compared to my poor old Powerbook 17" 1.67 Ghz, the difference is astonishing!

So for roughly $4000 I have a system which will compete with an equivalent new system getting close to double it's price. Very happy.

Get them while they are there!

For Anthomac.

If you're planning to struggle on with a Core Duo PC (I'm keeping mine going as well), you might look at using a hyperDrive 5M for booting.

I'm seriously considering one. Info at HyperOs Systems

I've been using their HyperOS utility for years & it's saved me days recovering from Windows crashes & the odd virus infection.

I know this not Mac stuff but it's a thought as this stuff is not widely known

Yeah I know, i really want the 2.8 though... I think it will be a investment for me, especially since you can put the 2009 video cards in it...

Bought a refurb 2.8GHz Octo about 2 weeks ago (before the refurb prices went up after the new Mac Pro was released). Cost $3139. Newer refurbs have been going for about $250 more since then. Very happy with it (didn't get any "extras" - just the base specs). Added an extra 6GB OWC RAM for about $320 and an extra ATI 2500HD (I run 3 monitors). Replaced my G5 Quad and the performance improvement is significant.

Have bought a few refurbs before (laptops for family) and never had issues.

For the cost savings, definately worth it.

A question with the 3 monitors: with 2 video cards, do the screens span properly? (i.e: in this screen, do you see three monitors?)
