They couldnt exchange my imac as that was apple onlines job and aparently if its a refurb they cant replace it ,only refunds are available. SO i ended up refunding the refurb and buying a Imac from the apple store as they where so helpful, they got it out checked for dead pixels and everything.

It would have been a new one since he got his money back to buy it with. Refurbs are kept in a warehouse, not at the store.

I almost bought a 24" 3Ghz refurb from the online store this afternoon but got tied up with work. Now, I'm really nervous....should I fork out a bit more and get the new one ?

I bought a refurb 24" iMac about a month/maybe 2 months ago. It has one dead pixel on the screen.
Honestly though it does not bother me at all - so I don't really need/want to get it fixed
